Dear Sir, Dont you think you too contribute to this war on water. Do you live in an AC room. Then you are also responsible for increasing the temperature outside, making life unbearable for people around you.
Do you have an apartment in a high riser. Then you too contribute to wasting a lot of water, when a poor man in the outskirts of your city crave for it.
One Haryana leader once mentioned something like – the urban Indians flush away enough water, that you can live with for a week (something in this lines)
there are many other points too, in the life style of rich, which just adds to the water scarcity.

Our stupid craving for living like foreigners, are one of the reasons why we unnecessarily try to change our life style, leading to waste more water.

It is a good thing, if there will be no water for drinks. Normally, you understand the taste of an alcohol, only if you have it raw. Like this, you also drink little, but tasting and ejoying the drink. Thje use of water and other liquids, have made our society to drink too much.
And here our Govt. is thinking to privatise water distribution. Have you publicly opposed it. If not, please do. That will be disastrous.

    Laletta,

I came across a study conducted by NASA in 2009, on the water crisis in India. It was really an eye opener for me. The serious study conducted by NASA’s GRACE – Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment, speaks volumes of things which unfortunately our most vital organizations are not even aware, including the agencies of Union Republic of India. Links to that study by NASA is attached along – http://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/features/india_water.html . And also here is a Report of World Bank attached along – it does give a good background for intelligent things to emerge, if someone is serious – http://www- wds.worldbank.org/external/default/WDSContentServer/WDSP/IB/2006/01/24/000090341_20060124094858/Rendered/PDF/34750.pdf

One of the major issues we face is we are unaware how to manage our blessings – there is no state in Indian Union or perhaps in the world that is so blessed by nature- we have taken all that blessings for granted. If a small fraction of us decide things – lot of things can happen. We lose almost all rain water in to the oceans within hours – we need to creatively check that and that will definitely solve much of our problem. And along with that we need to know, where do we stand – what is the reality . It’s all mixed up now. And the next step needed is collective collaboration in creating systems, designs technically, legally. If our state takes these things as a priority for just two weeks.. things will fall into right actions that will culminate in to lot of good answers and wonder practices in times to come.

Thank you for this timely blog for triggering the imagination on water. If we can do something creatively this June – rains are on their way – If we can do something in these few weeks seriously we had in a way solved lot of water problems for next March and April…

And little by little in years we can ‘prevent’ the blue wars…there was time in my life when even my sleep was disturbed thinking all these things but living my life I felt that – every question has an answer. The issues of water do have answer when they become a ‘real’ priority. I think, this blog, studies done by NASA, world bank are all bringing to fore the issues of water – one day it will become a ‘real ‘priority and the answer will be around..

Thank you for these caring, kind thoughts. Laletta, if you can – kindly ask your media friends to launch a campaign for rain water harvesting – rains are just few days away and your effort can bless the whole Kerala a million times…

    With Love Abundant

Nice write up. Gods own land is being turned to Dogs on land. We have become so proud and do not accept the dignity of labor . Our young generation do not think positive. The amount of rain that we still receive is big but all these water is wasted without proper planning. The government and people should join hand and find a solution otherwise Kerala will be turned to a desert of concrete buildings in the very near future. God Bless us all with clear thoughts and Thank you Mr Mohanlal for this good thoughts as people like you have the capacity to lead the people to a certain extend.
